Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for a Works Control Supervisor to join the Site Services team at Dounreay. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring all planned work is delivered safely, efficiently and in full environmental compliance.
What you’ll be doing:
This is a highly responsible and visible position where you will oversee the safe execution of work activities, including issuing permits and intervening decisively where safety standards or resources fall short. We are seeking a proactive individual with strong site knowledge, ideally of Dounreay operations, who is eager to contribute to a high-performing team and continue developing through ongoing training and professional growth.
- Coordinate closely with facility, maintenance and project teams to ensure work packs and permits are fully approved, accurate and ready for safe execution
- Actively contribute to planning activities including work scoping, hazard identification, scheduling and risk mitigation to enable seamless delivery
- Monitor work in progress, ensuring strict compliance with safety documentation, procedures and standards, and apply STOP work principles when required
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient project delivery while maintaining safety, quality and commercial awareness
What you’ll bring:
You will bring solid site experience and a strong understanding of safety management systems, ideally supported by CITB training. With a collaborative and flexible mindset, you are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining high standards. You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to influence, challenge and support teams effectively, and you are committed to ongoing learning and professional development to meet the evolving demands of the role.
- HNC in Science/Engineering/Business or equivalent qualification plus experience
- Relevant site experience with an understanding of the works control process, safety management systems, temporary works, and safe systems of work
- Knowledge of working at height, excavations and confined spaces
- Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes
- Resilient, adaptable and able to deliver high-quality work under pressure and to deadlines
