Job Description

Overview

Since 1980, Peace & Justice Scotland has proved to be a catalyst for action and learning, bringing activists and academics into a shared learning space and bringing the isolated and the compassionate together which must be doing something towards creating a more peaceful and just society.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth administration and legal compliance for the board of trustees
  • Focus on organising meetings, keeping accurate minutes, and maintaining governance records
  • Work closely with the Chair to set agendas
  • Manage correspondence and general enquiries
  • Ensure compliance with Charity Commission regulations
  • As part of the induction, the secretary should be familiar with their responsibilities of governance and our relationship to Secure Scotland, particularly the facilitation fee (essentially the rent for Words and Actions, our venue in South Edinburgh)
