Trainee Grounds Maintenance Operative
Job Description
As a Trainee Grounds Maintenance Operative based in Grangemouth, you will support the delivery of construction and maintenance projects within a local petrochemical plant.
Salary: £12.71 – £13.00 per hour (permanent position). Working hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 13:30.
Responsibilities
- Excavate and reinstate trenches.
- Install drainage systems, ducting, chambers and kerbs.
- Lay and compact sub-base, aggregates, and surfacing materials.
- Construct concrete foundations, slabs, bases and structural elements.
- Carry out civil maintenance repairs.
- Assist with formwork, reinforcement placement and concrete pours.
- Maintain safe working areas and good housekeeping standards.
- Perform manual handling tasks according to safety practices.
- Support emergency and reactive maintenance work when required.
Requirements
- Experience in groundworks such as backfilling, compacting aggregates and repairing kerbs.
- Strong skills in excavation and trenching.
- Knowledge of drainage and ducting installation.
- Capability to work safely and efficiently to required quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake practical training and develop civil engineering skills.
