Job Title: Trainee Estimator / Junior Estimator.

Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 (DOE).

Location: Office-Based (Clydebank).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Estimator / Junior Estimator to join a growing specialist roofing contractor due to continued expansion and a strong pipeline of secured work. The company specialises in delivering high-quality flat roofing, pitched roofing and cladding solutions across a range of sectors including commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and residential developments. With an established reputation for quality and repeat business, they are seeking an ambitious individual looking to build a long-term career within estimating and pre construction. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with some construction experience or a relevant qualification who is looking to develop their estimating skills within a supportive and experienced team. Full training and mentoring will be provided.

Job Requirements

  • Some previous experience within construction, estimating, or a related discipline is advantageous.
  • Relevant qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Building Studies or similar beneficial.
  • Interest in roofing, cladding or specialist construction sectors.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 per annum (DOE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing tenders, estimates and quotations for roofing and cladding projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Produce material take-offs and quantify labour requirements.
  • Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Support senior estimators with pricing exercises and tender submissions.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and project documentation.
  • Liaise with internal teams, suppliers and clients throughout the tender process.
  • Assist with site visits and pre-construction meetings where required.
  • Develop a strong understanding of roofing systems, materials and installation methods.
