Overview
The Older Adults Community Mental Health Team in West Dunbartonshire, operating from Cairnmhor Resource Centre, Dumbarton Joint Hospital, and Goldenhill Resource Centre in Clydebank, is recruiting a Team Leader. The post-holder will have responsibility for leadership, managing and supporting the ongoing team development to fulfil the key functions of the CMHT. This role involves safe and effective deployment and management of clinical resources, robust risk assessment and management, implementation of complex care programmes, leadership of multidisciplinary decision making, caseload management, line management of senior staff, and ensuring compliance with professional governance, standards and national policies.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Location based in West Dunbartonshire (Cairnmhor Resource Centre, Dumbarton Joint Hospital and Goldenhill Resource Centre, Clydebank).
- Permanent contract.
- Full time position.
- Shift pattern: Monday to Thursday 09:00am – 16:45pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as a Named Practitioner within a multidisciplinary team for a complex patient caseload requiring specialist mental health care and undertake care coordination where required.
- Conduct holistic assessment of complex care needs, including risk assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care for individual caseloads and monitoring the clinical staff caseload.
- Carry out, review and monitor all relevant forms of care, focusing on improving the mental and physical well being of patients and supporting the staff team to address vulnerability, gender, health, domestic abuse, child and adult protection and self harm issues.
- Maintain therapeutic staff patient relationships for complex or unstable cases within a participative framework that demonstrates equity, dignity and respect, taking account of spiritual and cultural diversity. Work proactively with other agencies (e.g., interpreter services) to support effective communication.
- Ensure clinical staff work within competency based parameters and deliver evidence based psychological therapy or psychology approaches in individual or group settings.
- Ensure clinical staff work in partnership with patients and carers using values based practice to deliver person centred care, promoting mental wellbeing and preventing relapse.
- Ensure professional practice complies with regulatory bodies and legislation, considering the Principles of the Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, Adults with Incapacity 2000, Adult Support & Protection 2007, Children & Young People 2014 acts.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Training, and Experience
- Relevant professional qualification.
- Honours degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
- Specialist knowledge and application of mental health care, including risk assessment and values based practice.
- Qualification or formal study demonstrating evidence based psychological therapy skills.
- Qualification or formal study demonstrating frontline management and leadership knowledge, skills and expertise.
- Evidence of:
- post registration study or professional development relevant to specialist community mental health.
- line management and clinical supervision of senior staff.
- coordination of care with patients with complex unstable mental health needs.
- applied management and leadership skills, enhanced written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- service improvement and/or practice development at local or service level.
- managing competing priorities and undertaking duties in a home or near to home environment, including driving.
