Service Engineer
South Wales Permanent 36 Hours Per Week
Expected Earnings: £43,000 – £50,000+

The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Engineer to join an established and highly respected engineering team.
This role will involve supporting customers with breakdown response, planned maintenance, commissioning activities and technical support across a variety of industrial environments.
The position would suit an engineer from a maintenance, service or automation background who enjoys fault finding, customer interaction and a varied workload.
Working Hours
- 36-hour working week
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30am 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:30am 3:00pm
- Work from home every Friday
- Flexible and supportive working environment
Salary & Package
- Typical annual earnings: £43,000 – £50,000+
- Weekly on-call allowance: £250
- Average annual on-call earnings of approximately £3,800
- Overtime paid at:
- Time and a half outside normal hours
- Double time on Sundays
On-Call Structure
- One full week on call every six weeks
- One weekend in six as secondary support
- Daytime calls are managed by the office support team
- Most call-outs are completed within a few hours
- Overnight stays are extremely rare
- Majority of customer sites are within one to two hours of South Wales
Key Responsibilities
- Responding to breakdown and service calls
- Carrying out planned maintenance activities
- Supporting existing customer accounts
- Undertaking field service work across customer sites
- Assisting with commissioning and improvement projects
- Producing service reports and documentation
- Sharing technical knowledge with colleagues
- Supporting the continued growth of the service department
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should ideally possess:
- HNC/HND qualification in Electrical, Electronic or related Engineering discipline
- Previous experience within maintenance, service or automation environments
- PLC programming and fault-finding experience
- Knowledge of drives and industrial control systems
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills
