Purpose of the position: As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will work alongside another Structural Engineer within the Engineering team of our ROV operations department in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities
- Prioritise safety of personnel, environment and equipment.
- Perform structural checks of ROV equipment, following industry codes and standards.
- Design (structural elements) of ROV equipment.
- Specify load test requirements for ROV equipment.
- Supervise third party structural designs of ROV equipment.
- Produce structural engineering deliverables: design reports, calculations templates, scopes of work.
- Supervise draughting of (structural elements) of ROV equipment.
- Provide advice for interfaces with Classification Societies.
- Support estimating of structural engineering activities.
- Advise/mentor engineers.
- Support on-site activities, when required
What are we looking for?
- Education: MEng, Structural Engineering (or comparable); or experience equivalent
- Licenses/Certifications: Chartership would be a plus
- Experience: Proven experience of structural engineering analysis and design.
- Technical skills: Detailed knowledge of industry codes (e.g. AISC, Eurocode for steel design). Familiarity with processes for fabrication and non-destructive examination. Confident in the design/specification of lifting equipment. Confident in the use of finite elements analysis: beam element and 3D simulation
- IT skills
- Confident in the use of calculation tools (e.g. Mathcad)
- Confident in the use of CAD (2D and 3D)
- ANSYS or STAAD.Pro would be a plus
