Senior Power Systems Engineer

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is looking for talented individuals to join our Electrical Systems Practice within our Complex Projects business, to help us deliver projects in rail, nuclear, distribution and defence of varying scale. The Power & Distribution design team works on UK and international projects. We collaborate with clients to understand requirements and produce design solutions covering feasibility studies, option selection, outline and detailed design, and construction support. We are recruiting an Engineer or Senior Engineer to become a key member of the team with the capabilities to deliver distribution designs.

Responsibilities

• Undertake distribution design work within a Rail environment and in other sectors.
• Prepare designs to company, Network Rail, LU, DLR and other applicable standards.
• Prepare design deliverable packages for submission including drawings, equipment specifications and design reports, feasibility studies, option selection, outline and detailed design, and construction support.
• Maintain a good understanding of AtkinsRéalis Rail business standards of safety, quality and design.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

• Further education qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in technical design of power and distribution systems in Rail/Energy or another regulated environment.
• Apropriate experience working within design teams in a project-driven organisation.
• Experience working with detailed electrical engineering design drawings for distribution substation, switchgear, transformers and associated ancillary equipment.
• Knowledge of systems integration in the substation environment.
• Able to obtain security clearance to SC level.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience of load flow analysis and protection scheme design.
• AC or DC Rail traction electrification experience.
• Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or working towards.
• Experience of planning and providing cost and budgetary control and monitoring.
• Use of specific engineering tools such as ETAP, Matlab, CDEGs, CAD (Microstation).
• High voltage earthing design.
• Integration with SCADA.
