Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team in Ayrshire.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety management within the housing sector and possess relevant IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications. The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with relevant legislation.

Key Requirements of the Role

– Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with industry standards and legislation.
– Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
– Provide guidance and support to staff on health and safety matters, ensuring a culture of safety is promoted throughout the organization.
– Deliver health and safety training and inductions to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
– Monitor and review health and safety performance, producing reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
– Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring root causes are identified and appropriate actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
– Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
– Collaborate with external agencies, such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), to stay informed of regulatory changes and best practices.
– Manage and maintain health and safety documentation, records, and databases.
– Support the implementation of health and safety initiatives and campaigns to enhance awareness and engagement across the organization.

Experience/ Qualifications Required

– NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
– IOSH Managing Safely or higher-level IOSH qualification.
– Proven experience in a health and safety management role within the affordable housing sector.
– In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
– Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
– Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and health and safety management software.
