Senior Piping & Plant Layout Engineer
About the Role
A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Piping & Plant Layout Engineer to support major capital projects across the energy, oil & gas, chemical, and renewable sectors. This role focuses on delivering high-quality piping design, 3D plant modelling, and layout optimisation while ensuring constructability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions from concept through detailed design.
Key Responsibilities

Develop piping and plant layouts in accordance with project requirements, industry codes, and safety standards.

Create and maintain piping specifications aligned with process and application needs.

Prepare bills of materials (BOM), line lists, and tie-in schedules.

Perform or review pipe stress analysis using industry-standard tools.

Produce and review 3D models, piping GA drawings, isometrics, and support details.

Collaborate with process, mechanical, civil/structural, and electrical teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Conduct layout studies to optimise accessibility, maintainability, safety, and material efficiency.

Review vendor documentation for technical compliance.

Participate in model reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability assessments.

Coordinate with global design centres and verify the accuracy of their deliverables.

Provide accurate design data to support cost and schedule estimating activities.
Skills & Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

10+ years of relevant experience in piping design and plant layout within oil & gas, chemicals, LNG, or related industries.

Proficiency with 3D design tools such as E3D, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D, or AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Knowledge of pipe stress analysis software; experience with CAESAR II or AutoPIPE is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of ASME, ANSI, API, and other applicable piping codes and standards.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and detail-orientation skills.

Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, positive attitude.

Professional Engineering (PE) licence preferred or as required by regional regulations.
