Job Description

Anderson Knight Recruitment are working with an organisation to recruit a Senior HR Advisor specialising in Employee Relations, you will play a key role in advising on and managing a range of ER issues within a complex, unionised environment. You will work closely with senior leadership, line managers, and your team to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant HR practices. Your role will also involve providing expert guidance on managing employee performance, grievances, disciplinary actions, and other ER-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive advice and guidance to line managers and senior leaders on a broad spectrum of ER issues, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Lead on complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, and performance management issues, ensuring a fair and consistent approach.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of 3 HR advisors, providing support and development opportunities to ensure high levels of performance and job satisfaction.
  • Review and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are fit for purpose in a unionised environment.
  • Design and deliver training on key ER issues for managers and staff, promoting understanding of employee relations best practices.
  • Track and report on key ER metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement to enhance the employee experience and organisational performance.

Key Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in HR, with a strong focus on Employee Relations within a unionised environment. Experience managing ER matters in a complex, multi-faceted organisation is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience working with unionised workforces, including negotiation, consultation, and resolving disputes.
  • Experience managing and developing a team of HR professionals.
  • Sound knowledge of employment law and best HR practices, particularly within a unionised context.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels of the organisation.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach to resolving complex ER issues, with the ability to manage conflict and maintain productive relationships.

Desirable Skills:

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in a highly regulated or public-sector environment.
  • A background in managing organisational change or restructuring processes.
