Role Overview
SCIS is building capacity within Scottish local authorities to improve decision making for area wide emissions reduction. The Communications Officer will support external communication in this dynamic programme. Work will involve shaping the communication strategy and delivery, simplifying and clearly communicating complex climate topics, and communicating programme progress, successes and insights through newsletters, social media posts and briefings.
Location Details
Your primary place of work will be West Lothian Civic Centre, Howden South Road, Livingston, West Lothian EH54 6FF, with the possibility of working at any site within 30 miles of this office. A blended model of office and home working is anticipated. Travel throughout Scotland may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support external communication for the Scottish Climate Intelligence Service.
- Shape and deliver communication strategy, including newsletters, social media posts and briefings.
- Translate complex climate and emissions information into clear, accessible content for local authority users and external audiences.
- Collaborate with partners such as the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute and the Sustainable Scotland Network.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of climate change and sustainability communication.
- Experience designing and delivering communication campaigns.
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to work productively with others.
- Ability to design and deliver communication materials for a variety of audiences.
