Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for our client based in Lanarkshire.

Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused and detail-driven Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established business within the fit-out and construction sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the financial management of projects from inception to completion, ensuring best value, cost control, and effective contractual administration across a range of dynamic and varied works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all costs relating to construction and fit-out projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts.
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Monitor project progress and keep track of any variations that may affect costs.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Prepare and present interim valuations, final accounts, and project cost reports.
  • Assess subcontractor applications and process payments in line with contractual terms.
  • Assist in the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive and compliant pricing.
  • Support the project delivery team in maintaining cost control throughout the life cycle of each project.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction, fit-out, or refurbishment sectors.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, tendering procedures, and cost management principles.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software (e.g. ConQuest, Causeway, or similar).
  • Effective communicator with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline is preferred.

  • Monday to Thursday 8am – 4:30pm / Friday 8am – 3:30pm.
