Hours: 32 hours per week, 39 weeks sessional
Salary: £30,188-£34,452 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Monday-Thursday 0800 – 1530, Friday
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Pupil Support Officer to join our fantastic staff team at Pirniehall and make a difference to the lives of our children and families.
Pirniehall Primary School serves the community of West Pilton and is in the Craigroyston Learning Community. In Session 2025-26 we have 263 children organised across nine classes and our 24 place Nursery. Most children live in Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation deciles 1 to 5. Approximately one half of children require additional support with their learning and one fifth have English as an additional language. Approximately forty percent of children in P6 and P7 are entitled to free school meals. The school receives additional funding to improve the attainment, health and wellbeing of children and the community.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively as a member of our positive and committed school team to support children across our school, The role will involve providing targeted support across the school environment 1:1 or in groups, helping pupil s to regulate, resolve difficulties, and return to and sustain engagement in learning. Using a nurturing and restorative approach, they will contribute to the promotion of wellbeing, inclusion, and positive behaviour in line with the GIRFEC framework, to support improved engagement and attainment.
In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading an active breakfast club and support ing positive relationships and safe play in the playground during break and lunchtimes. They will work collaboratively with school staff to provide consistent, child-centred support and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment for all pupil s.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. Anunconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
