Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assessing and appraising tender opportunities for their suitability to bid
  • Reviewing tender information for the scope of works to be delivered
  • Defining and quantifying the scope of works and preparing comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and finalised price construction cost estimates for projects
  • Carrying out site visits when necessary to assess constraints, risks, etc. associated with the defined scope of work
  • Liaising with technical departments for bearing and temporary works design requirements for tenders
  • Sending out enquiries for subcontractor work packages and evaluating responses
  • Analysing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Complying with bid governance requirements
  • Compiling tender submission documents, including offer letters, BoQs, or activity schedules

Profile

  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering, with a valid CSCS Card
  • Minimum of 5 years’ estimating experience in civil engineering projects or from a background as a Construction Engineer and/or Technician, with a strong grasp of commercial issues, costs, selling, risk, production, and works programming
  • Ideally have sector knowledge in bridge/concrete repairs, structural strengthening, bearing replacement, post tensioning systems, carbon fibre strengthening, external building refurbishment, jacking & propping, or cathodic protection
  • Strong ability to understand technical drawings and requirements
  • Excellent IT skills, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and estimating software
  • Organised, methodical, and good analytical skills
  • The right to live and work in the UK, and a valid driving license
