Responsibilities
- Join the Campopiano group in the School of Chemistry.
- Develop biocatalysts from waste molecules.
- Design methods to isolate and characterise biocatalysts.
- Develop high throughput screening for substrate conversion.
- Collaborate with C Loop scientists to transfer biocatalytic cascades into microbial hosts.
- Explore waste substrates and convert them into target molecules.
Requirements
- Post doctoral scientist to join the Campopiano group in the School of Chemistry.
- Develop biocatalysts that convert low value, carbon containing waste molecules into high value chemicals.
- Design methods to isolate and characterise a range of recombinant, active biocatalysts.
- Use modern protein design/engineering tools to generate libraries of biocatalyst variants with improved properties.
- Develop methods to combine biocatalysts and chemocatalysts into efficient synthetic routes.
- Screen a range of microbes to isolate novel biocatalysts that can catalyse novel chemical reactions.
- Use protein characterisation methods to characterise, clone and express these novel biocatalysts.
