Job Description

The Role:

As you will be operating our courtesy shuttle bus service, you will play a crucial role in providing safe, reliable, and friendly transportation for our student residents to and from the accommodation. This position is ideal for a customer-focused individual who enjoys working independently and is committed to ensuring the comfort and safety of our students and will be on a shift basis to cover mornings and afternoons.

As a Minibus Driver your responsibilities will be:-

  • Operate the shuttle bus on a set route, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students at various locations within St Andrews.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service, assisting students with inquiries and providing a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Checking that passengers are our students.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure the shuttle bus is in safe operating condition (windscreen wash, diesel levels, lights etc).
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of all passengers.
  • Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and fuel usage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the shuttle bus, reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with the SPACE Student Accommodation team regarding schedules, route changes, and any incidents.
  • Handle any emergencies or issues that arise in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Assist with occasional special trips or events as required.

Operating days/times:

  • Term time contracts.
  • Mon – Fri
  • 8am to 12pm & 3pm to 7pm.
  • Occasional work out with term time may be required.

The Person:

  • Must have a valid full UK D1 driving licence which you have held for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Must be 25 + years for Insurance purposes.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of St Andrews and surrounding areas is preferred but not required.
  • Clean driving record with a commitment to safe driving practices.
  • Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with students.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
