The Role

Job Title: Supervisor (Leisure)

Hour Of Work:37 hours per week

Salary: Grade 5 £14.20 – £15.09 per hour

Holidays:30 days, plus 4 public holidays

Location: Gytes Leisure Centre

Reports To: Operations Manager

Closing Date: Tuesday 14th July 2026

JOB PURPOSE

  • To supervise staff to enable the smooth operation of the facility, as well as ensuring that areas across the facility are clean, safe and welcoming.
  • To ensure the highest possible standards of Health & Safety and customerservicewithin the Centre.
  • To assume shift management responsibility for thecentretomaximiseutilisation of staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To act as a member of the Supervisory Team on a shiftrotasystem, during opening hours of the Centre.
  • To ensure all Health & Safety procedures and responsibilitiesarecarried outat all times.And staff record all statutory checks on theappropriate H&Ssystem
  • To act as a keyholder forthe Centre andbe responsible foropening andclosing ofthe building andbeon arotaforemergencycall-outs.
  • Responsible for shift operationin accordance withNormal Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure the shift runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure all staff getappropriate breaks
  • Supporting the Operations Manager with the successful delivery ofprogrammingensuring the health and safety of staff andcustomers,anddeliveringthe highest standards of service.
  • Toleadthe team on a shiftrotasystem with supervisor responsibilities for staff on shift.
  • Toassistthe Operations Manager inidentifyingtraining requirementsandleadtheprovision ofappropriate stafftraining and development, ensuringaccuratetraining records aremaintained.
  • Maximumlevels of participation in all courses and activities.Monitoring costeffectiveness and highlightingand rectifying areas of low performance.
  • Toassistwith ordering,invoicingand stock managementwhererequired.
  • Cover absencethat occurs at short notice, to ensure shiftsare able tooperatein accordance withNOP & EAP
  • Tobe responsible forcash handlingand tillsystem reconciliation.
  • Toassistin the marketing and publicity of all activities.
  • To coach and teach asrequiredandgenerallyassistwith the running of events.
  • Build andmaintaingood working relationships with colleagues within theorganisation
  • Undertake Performance and development reviewsregularlywith direct reports
  • Ensure all staff are effectivelyonboardedand probation periodsareeffectively managed.Maintaining induction and probation records.
  • Comply withall Live Borders policies and procedures and ensureall staff adhere to policies on shift
  • Promote equal opportunities in service delivery and management of staffand volunteers

Requirement to work out of hours or weekends – regular evening and weekend work will be required.
