NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
Information Analyst About the Organisation
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level. NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is always the same – to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland. We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.
The Post
A unique and challenging opportunity has arisen to join the National Procurement Medicines Team to lead the analysis, reporting, interpretation and presentation of data to support the assessment, ongoing monitoring and financial reconciliation of medicines pricing schemes.
A key focus area will be Patient Access Schemes (PAS) which are commercial arrangements proposed by pharmaceutical companies to improve the cost-effectiveness of a medicine. PAS can be simple discount schemes or more complex arrangements such as outcomes-based pricing. Reconciliation of complex arrangements can require close engagement with stakeholders including Health Board clinical and pharmacy teams and pharmaceutical manufacturers. These pricing agreements are often key to enabling patient access to high-cost new medicines in Scotland.
There will also be the opportunity to support the wider work of the medicines team in developing relevant datasets and reports to support NHS Scotland in maximizing value-for-money on its spend on medicines.
The Candidate
We are looking for a highly motivated person with proven data analysis and presentation skills. They should be commercially aware, have excellent organisation skills, work with attention to detail and the ability to work enthusiastically and constructively as part of a team.
Sound knowledge of analytical techniques and tools (for example Business Objects, R Studio) and previous experience in the analysis of medicines prescribing or reimbursement data is desirable.
Location and Working Pattern
This post can be based in National Distribution Centre, Larkhall or Gyle Square, Edinburgh or any other NSS site.
Currently hybrid working.
The work pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
