Are you an engineering leader who thrives on driving reliability, performance and cultural change?

We re seeking a Head of Engineering & Maintenance to join a high-performing manufacturing site in Inverness. This is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the General Manager, with full accountability for engineering strategy, asset reliability, and maintenance excellence across the site.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will:

  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering function (Mechanical, Electrical, Projects, Reliability, Planning)
  • Embed Asset Management (ISO 55000 principles) and drive best practice maintenance strategies
  • Improve plant reliability, uptime and operational performance
  • Reduce repeat failures through structured Root Cause Analysis and defect elimination
  • Champion health, safety and environmental compliance at the highest level
  • Drive CMMS governance, schedule compliance and risk-based maintenance
  • Deliver engineering projects with maintainability and long-term performance in mind
  • Develop a high-performing, engaged, and future-ready engineering team
  • You ll play a pivotal role in improving MTBF, reducing downtime, enhancing KPI performance, and supporting the wider business strategy.

We re looking for a commercially aware, technically strong leader who can influence at every level of the organisation.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior engineering leadership experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management and reliability engineering
  • Experience implementing structured maintenance strategies and governance frameworks
  • A track record of driving performance improvement and cost control
  • Strong understanding of CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A solid grounding in Health & Safety, statutory compliance and safe systems of work
  • Experience with ISO-aligned asset management frameworks is highly advantageous.
