Job Description

Igne is seeking a Project Engineering Geologist to join the Ground Investigation (GI) Division in Hamilton. This is a full time, permanent position that will require travel and a mix of site and office based work. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of a diverse portfolio of ground investigation and geotechnical projects across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and preparation of GI projects.
  • Manage and act as part of a team on small to large scale GIs, ensuring compliance with specification and contractual documents.
  • Conduct soil and rock core logging in compliance with BS5930 / Eurocode 7.
  • Manage project data, including AGS, laboratory schedules and logs, to meet client requirements.
  • Write factual reports and assist in interpretive report writing.
  • Prepare risk assessments and method statements.

Person Specification

  • A degree in Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline is essential.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical investigation techniques, soil mechanics and geology.
  • Experience running small and medium ground investigation projects from contract award to completion.
  • Extensive experience producing factual reports to a high standard within allowed timescales.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to ensure timely client communication and meet deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
