Fabrication & Machine Shop Supervisor, East Kilbride, 42,000 – 45,000
We’re recruiting for a hands-on Fabrication & Machine Shop Supervisor for a permanent role in East Kilbride. The position involves leading a small team of machine operators and welders in a precision engineering environment. This is a day shift role with early Friday finishes and flexibility on start/finish times.
As a Machine Shop Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fabrication and machine shop
- Leading, supporting and motivating a team of machinists and welders
- Operating horizontal boring machines and other conventional machine tools (lathes, drills, mills)
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to plan and carry out machining work
- Ensuring work is completed to required specifications and tight engineering tolerances
- Carrying out inspections and maintaining quality throughout the process
- Supporting the development of standard operating procedures and continuous improvement
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
What you can expect in return:
- Salary: 42,000- 45,000 depending on experience
- Annual profit-share bonus

- 39-hour working week:
- Monday to Thursday: 06:00-14:30
- Friday: 06:00-13:30
- 32 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays)
- 5% matched employer pension contributions

What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience in a fabrication or machining environment
- Proven leadership or supervisory background within a workshop setting
- Skilled in the operation of conventional machine tools – particularly horizontal borers
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
- Forklift and/or overhead crane licence (advantageous)
- Good understanding of health and safety in a manufacturing environment
