Job Description

Peace Recruitment’s client is a leading Tier 1 contractor with a reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across various sectors, including commercial, residential, healthcare, and education. Their Build Division is at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and excellence, and we are looking for a skilled Estimator to join their dynamic team and work from their Edinburgh office.

Projects will value up to 50m.

Role Overview:

As an Estimator in their Build Division, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of their construction projects. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, ensuring that their bids are commercially viable and align with the client’s requirements. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with their project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for various construction projects within the Build Division.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to obtain competitive quotes and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Review and assess tender documents, identifying risks, opportunities, and any contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with the Pre-Construction and Project Management teams to ensure alignment on project costs and budgets.
  • Present estimates to senior management, providing detailed breakdowns and justifications for pricing.
  • Monitor and update estimates throughout the project lifecycle, adjusting for any changes in scope or market conditions.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with clients, consultants, and industry contacts.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, cost fluctuations, and advancements in construction technology.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within a Tier 1 contractor or similar environment, preferably within the Build Division.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Proficient in estimation software and tools
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is an advantage.
