Companion/Personal Assistant – Tweedbank, Galashiels – 3034
Job Description
A lovely elderly lady with dementia living at home in Tweedbank, needs a patient, friendly, outgoing support worker to sit with her and keep her company to reduce social isolation. The role would involve actively engaging the client in conversation and making sure she was kept safe.
Terms
- Hours per week: 6
- Hours/days of work: to be arranged
- £13.50 per hour.
- Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
- Probationary period of 6 months
- Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership
Job Description Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- To support a client to ensure their safety and well-being
- To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings
- To develop a positive relationship with client and her family.
- Any other tasks the client is unable to manage

- Kind and caring, sensitive to the client’s needs
- Patient and cheerful
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Ability to use your own initiativeAbility to work sensitively in a home setting respecting the client and family’s right to privacy and to always maintain professional standards of confidentiality
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Dementia would be desirable but not essential
- Experience is not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes, but they should be able to show some suitability for the role.
