Job Description
The Telecoms Civil Operative will form part of the Fibre upgrade team in Scotland.
The Civil Operative will be required to perform excavations, repairs, re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers and street cabinets, and the installation of draw rope on telecoms infrastructure within the public highway and customers premises, following up-to-date client standard operating procedures and complying with current legislation, health and safety requirements, and company policies.
Please note, this position is initially for blockage operative, so telecoms blockage repair experience is highly desirable.
MUST HAVE: C Class 2 and Hiab licence / ClamShell
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- To ensure all works are completed as required whilst the team works within the required guidelines and processes.
- Operate manual and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure all SLG set up meets the Streetworks requirements and all sites are 100% compliant.
- Reinstate to industry standard ensuring all information / pictures are captured on company supplied assets.
- Be competent in the use of Stihl Saws / Wacker plates / trench compactor and hold the correct certification to complete the works.
- Complete the required paperwork for your daily work tasks (job sheets / risk assessments / plant sheets / van sheets).
- Experience of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities.
- To be responsible for the company assets & plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties.
- Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures.
- Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients.
- Complete all project related works on time and meet client committed dates for delivery of the works.
- Be prepared to carry out works on other workstreams when required and instructed by the business.

- Street works ticket – units 1 – 6 & 9.
- CSCS.
- NRSWA.
- Be in good physical health.
- Towing and 7.5 tonne licence essential.
