Job Description

Chargehand Linesmen

Power & Infrastructure Resourcing are looking for an experienced Chargehand Linesmen for upcoming works in Dundee & North Scotland.

Location: Dundee & North (Monday Friday)
Duration: Approx. 6 months starting March 2026 (likelihood of additional works to follow)
Hours: 10 hours per day, Monday Friday (competitive rates + tax-free subsistence)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Linesmen and ensure the safe installation, refurbishment, and maintenance of overhead lines up to 33kV

  • Coordinate daily tasks, allocate work, and communicate instructions from the Supervisor or Manager

  • Install poles, stays, conductors, switches, and associated overhead line equipment

  • Support and guide team members to ensure safe working practices and high technical standards

  • Carry out on-site risk assessments and ensure all work follows method statements and DNO safety rules

  • Monitor site safety and ensure all PPE, tools, and equipment are used correctly and maintained

  • Liaise with clients, third parties, and landowners to support smooth project delivery

  • Ensure all incidents, hazards, and near misses are reported in line with SHEQ requirements

  • Provide training and mentoring for less experienced Linesmen and trainees

  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers and the public

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years experience working as a Linesman on LV and HV overhead line networks up to 33kV

  • Strong understanding of distribution overhead line construction and maintenance

  • Proven ability to lead small teams on site

  • Good communication skills and confidence directing others

  • Excellent awareness of Health and Safety requirements for overhead line operations

  • Ability to interpret drawings, standards, and work instructions

Qualifications & Training

  • City & Guilds 2322 / 2339 / 2304

  • DNO Authorisations up to 33kV, including receiving safety documentation and live working

  • Pole Top Rescue

  • IPAF 1b

  • First Aid

  • Manual Handling

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Excavator tickets (desirable)
