Location: Hybrid working between home and our office in Motherwell, ML1 3ST.
Salary: The starting salary is £42,156.
Contract: Full time, permanent.

Business Development Manager About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to join our commercial team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the life sciences and a proven track record in business development within the CRO or biotech industry. This role is crucial in driving the growth of our services by identifying new business opportunities and generating quality leads and securing new clients that fit the company s target company profiles (TCPs) for long term business relationships. To successfully achieve this, you will use your scientific background to align the potential needs of the TCPs with our company s service portfolio across immunology, bioanalytical and cell line engineering, build strong client relationships, and close deals.

Working within the systems set up by the company, you will deliver real time metrics for any outbound activity approach, notifying senior members of the commercial team of successes and failures, and using this to make recommendations that will deliver improved results through your evidence-based analysis.

Main responsibilities:

• Research and identify potential customers within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors who require immunological, bioanalytical or cell line engineering services with TCPs that align with our service portfolio.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to target and acquire new customers.
• Generate leads through a variety of activities, to include, but not limited to; active prospecting, with email-based outreach to TCPs, in person and digital networking, attending industry conferences and events, leveraging existing contacts and network and a strong focus on continuous targeted prospecting.
• Exceed sales order targets and to meet company revenue goals.
• Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective customers.
• Negotiate contracts and terms to close deals effectively and efficiently.
• Establish and nurture long-term relationships with prospects and customers to ensure ongoing business generation and an excellent customer satisfaction.
• Empathise with our customers, recognising their needs and challenges to create tailored solutions to best meet their objectives.
• Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for new company accounts, ensuring superior quality of communication and responsiveness.
• Work closely with the scientific and operational teams to ensure a thorough understanding of our service capabilities and to deliver accurate information to clients and competitive project proposals.

What we need from you:

• Bachelor s degree in Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field; advanced degree (MSc or PhD) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the CRO industry.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships with empathy for their needs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
