Glasgow Prestwick Airport was purchased by the Scottish Government in November 2013 to protect jobs and safeguard a strategic infrastructure asset. The airport operates as a commercial business at an arm’s length from the Government.

Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity for a young person to join the team at Glasgow Prestwick Airport (GPA) as an apprentice within the busy Commercial Office. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop and enhance business awareness and leadership skills, learning how to manage day-to-day activities in a busy office environment.

You’ll gain skills completing a Business Administration Apprenticeship which will be valuable in many other industries, opening up future opportunities for you across a wide variety of businesses. You will be learning whilst “on-the-job” in a working office environment and earning a wage at the same time! Your training assignments will be carried out both in the workplace and online. The apprenticeship will take 12 months to complete.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in a busy commercial office providing administrative support to our Marketing, Communications and Property departments
  • Helping to prepare social media content showcasing all aspects of the airport
  • Keeping the airport website up to date and preparing website analytics
  • Making sure the Leadership Team are kept up-to-date with any airline/airport press updates
  • Managing office communications, including answering emails and phone enquiries
  • Preparing purchase orders and invoices
  • Co-ordinating communication between various departments
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Maintaining up to date records for GPA property portfolio
  • Establishing relationships with airport tenants and external stakeholders
  • Assisting with business development activities for the Commercial Team

Required skills & qualifications:

  • An excellent communicator
  • Enthusiastic and highly organised
  • Literate and numerate with good attention to detail
  • Confident and able to prioritise workload and operate on own initiative
  • A good level of IT skills especially Microsoft Office and Excel
  • National 5 English Grade A
  • National 5 Maths
  • A flexible approach to work and happy to learn new skills

Salary:

£17,888 per annum

Working hours:

Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
