About Us:

City Gate Construction (CGC) is establishing itself as an industry leader. Founded in 2003, we are a privately owned Construction, Refurbishment and Maintenance main contractor with offices in Scotland and England.

The company are headquartered in Paisley and has consolidated its position as a major contributor to the construction industry employing over 225 staff across eight fully integrated divisions whilst maintaining a year-on-year commitment to trades apprentices, which reflects 15% of our workforce.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Bid Writer to play a key role in our business development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in securing new business through the development of winning bids and proposals. In addition to bid writing responsibilities, this role will involve engaging with clients, understanding their needs, and building strong relationships. The candidate should be comfortable meeting with clients, presenting proposals, and negotiating terms to ensure successful project acquisition.

What you will be doing:

  • Researching and identifying bid opportunities within the construction industry.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and develop bid strategies.
  • Writing clear, compelling, and tailored bid responses that highlight our strengths and address client needs.
  • Managing the bid submission process, including formatting, editing, and proofreading.
  • Engaging with clients to understand their requirements and preferences.
  • Presenting proposals and participating in negotiations to secure new business.
  • Tracking bid outcomes and providing feedback for continuous improvement,

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Bid Writer with a track record of successful bids.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and bid management software.
  • Knowledge of construction industry terminology, processes, and regulations would be beneficial.
