We’re looking for dedicated team players with strong communication skills and a creative mindset. If you’re passionate about promoting community inclusion, we invite you to join our team as an Autism Practitioner.

At Scottish Autism, we acknowledge the specialist support our staff provide to autistic people therefore those doing support work are known as Autism Practitioners. We provide outstanding training and are continuously improving to ensure all our Autism Practitioners are supported and have the skills to deliver a quality service.

The people we support enjoy a variety of activities including long outdoor walks, community sports, swimming, dining out, watching movies, listening to music and using technology. Our services are community-based but also linked with building-based support.

As an Autism Practitioner, experience of working within social care is desirable but not essential as we are seeking to appoint people who share our values and are willing to learn and develop in the role. We will support you to do this by offering an extensive autism specific training programme. Our organisational values are Collaboration; Compassion; Change Makers; Contribution and these are at the heart of what we do.

– Build positive relationships with supported people.
– Ensure people are an active part of their local community.
– Provide support to individuals with personal care needs, including continence assistance and daily hygiene routines.
– Assist in developing adaptive strategies to navigate and overcome challenges.

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake shift work, including weekends and evenings, so flexibility towards working hours is key.

– To take part in their chosen activities (as listed above),
– To empower and enable impactful and meaningful decision.

Scottish Autism offers you:

Staff wellbeing is a priority, and we strive to ensure all colleagues feel valued and supported at work.
