Job Responsibilities
- Provide activities for residents in the nursing home.
- Uphold residents’ rights to choice, privacy and dignity.
- Communicate information to relevant personnel.
- Keep up-to-date documentation as required by company policies and the regulating bodies.
- Uphold residents’ participation strategy.
- Promote loyalty to the company and residents, both inside and outside the nursing home, and respect confidentiality.
- Treat colleagues with respect and ensure teamwork is good.
- Plan activities considering the varying needs and abilities of residents.
- Discuss plans with residents individually or in groups.
- Seek feedback, comments and suggestions at resident meetings, from families and visitors.
- Meet regularly with Manager/Deputy to discuss plans and seek advice on financial matters.
- Participate in Entertainment Committee meetings to set out longer term plans.
- Communicate with trained nurses/carers regarding intended activities and record information appropriately.
- Notify nursing staff of any concerns about residents’ condition.
- With agreement of senior staff, involve carers in activities.
- Communicate and negotiate outings with minibus driver, ensuring the correct resident:staff ratio is adhered to outside the home.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and adhere to safe working practices.
- Adhere to company uniform policy.
- Use all equipment safely, keeping it clean and in good working order.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Maintain correctly written records as required by the company and statutory bodies.
Qualifications
- Experience working in the care sector.
- Experience caring for the elderly.
- Member of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme.
- Member of the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council).
- Current and clean driving licence and access to a car.
