Job Description

Overview

Bus Electrician based at Stagecoach Ayr Depot, Waggon Road, Ayr. 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm (flexible). Competitive salary. You will keep our fleet safe, reliable and ready to serve the community, working with hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults across the fleet of buses and coaches.
  • Work on vehicle systems including lighting, wiring, batteries, charging systems, and control units.
  • Support maintenance and inspection activities to ensure vehicles meet DVSA and Stagecoach safety standards.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and software to identify and resolve issues.
  • Assist with the introduction and maintenance of electric and hybrid vehicles.
  • Complete all work safely, accurately, and in line with company procedures.
  • Collaborate with technicians and workshop teams to keep vehicles road ready.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications in electrical or automotive engineering (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Hands on experience with vehicle electrical systems (PSV, HGV, automotive, rail, or plant backgrounds welcomed).
  • Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills.
  • Proactive, safety first approach and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using modern diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
