Full time permanent role based in Glasgow at Merchant Apartments.
Salary: £31,500 per annum.

About the role
As Assistant Operations Manager you’ll shape the day to day experience of our residents, from arrival to check out. You’ll lead and support a team of front line staff, ensuring the accommodation runs smoothly, safely, and with a personal touch.
Key responsibilities OWN
- Lead the management of certain on site departments and bring the team together.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a personal desire for high levels of service.
- Be commercially savvy, helping to drive sales and marketing to achieve great results.
- Show authenticity – bring your whole self to work.
DO
- Support the Operations Manager with the financial performance of the property.
- Build relationships with team members, contractors, and universities to understand how our buildings provide more than a room.
- Adopt a safety first approach in line with statutory, legal, and moral obligations.
TEACH
- Deliver a great customer experience, ensuring residents feel welcomed and safe.
- Ensure the physical appearance of properties meets the highest standard.
- Guide the team to fill the properties year after year, attracting residents who stay long term.
LEARN
- Commit to personal development and support the growth of team members.
- Be the subject expert on day to day building operations.
- Understand team motivation to maximise occupancy and safety.
- Work with Finance, People, Health & Safety, Marketing, and Procurement to resolve queries.
COLLABORATE
- Work closely with business units and operational teams to deliver the best customer experience.
- Champion an open culture of new ideas and solutions.
What it will take Physical & workplace adjustments
- Role involves desk bound and on site inspection duties, including rapid response to fire alarms and resident lock outs.
