Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Payroll Team Leader to join our dynamic team based at the HR Service Centre Summerfield House Aberdeen. Reporting to the Operational Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in leading a team to deliver accurate, timely payroll services.

Responsibilities

As Payroll Team Leader, you will lead, manage and support a team of payroll staff to provide a high quality, customer focused service. You will ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met, adapt priorities and resources as required, and monitor team performance. You will enact service improvements, handle complex payroll queries and sensitive issues, and resolve conflicts effectively. Your role also includes contributing to the development of payroll processes, systems and ways of working, and building strong relationships with stakeholders across HR, Finance and operational services.

Qualifications

  • People management experience at an appropriate level.
  • Confidence in leading, motivating and developing a team.
  • Proficiency in planning for deadlines and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to identify issues and implement practical improvements.
  • Knowledge of NHS payroll systems and processes is desirable but not essential; strong transferable skills will be considered.

Working conditions

  • Hybrid role – regular in office days as required.
  • The role is based at the HR Service Centre Summerfield House Aberdeen.
