Responsibilities

The Applied Superconductivity Laboratory () is seeking a research associate to work on high temperature superconducting windings for electrical machine applications. The post will focus on both the simulation and experimental measurements of high temperature superconducting machine windings. The post holder will be expected to conduct cutting edge simulation and experiment to design superconducting machine for aviation applications. The project will be in collaboration with Airbus, offering exciting opportunities for the researcher to be engaged directly with industry.

Qualifications

To be considered for the role, you will be educated to a minimum of PhD level in high temperature superconductors and will have sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge of research relevant to electrical machines and an ability to conduct individual research work, to disseminate results and to prepare research proposals.

Additional Information

Whilst not essential for the role, applications are welcomed from candidates with relevant work experience, membership of relevant Chartered/professional bodies (including the Higher Education Academy), experience of relevant student supervision and teaching activities, and/or experience of knowledge exchange related activities.
