Job Description

Physiotherapy Healthcare Support Worker

Location: Victoria Hospital / Orthopaedic Wards. Salary/Banding: Band 4.

Hours: Post 1: full time (36 hours), Post 2: 0.6 WTE (21.6 hours). Hours may be flexible.

Shift pattern: Frequent weekend working expected.

Job Overview

Assist in delivering physiotherapy to acute orthopaedic wards, primarily caring for patients post orthopaedic surgery including trauma and joint replacement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physiotherapist in assessment and treatment of hospital patients.
  • Provide information and support regarding daily living aids and appliances.
  • Work closely with occupational therapy colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the team to support patient recovery and discharge planning.

Qualifications

  • SVQ Level III in health sciences or equivalent.
  • Evidence of clinical competence in assessment and treatment of patients.
  • Understanding of inpatient orthopaedic conditions including fracture management and joint replacement.
  • Knowledge of frailty and daily living aids helpful.
  • Basic IT knowledge, including word processing.
  • Teamworking skills and ability to adapt to change.

Additional Requirements

Must become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
