General Farm Worker – Beef and Arable – South West Scotland + Accommodation +Benefits
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a General Farm Worker to join a progressive mixed beef and arable enterprise in South West Scotland. This is a varied, hands on role suited to an enthusiastic all rounder looking to be fully involved across both livestock and arable operations. Working as part of a small, supportive team you will assist with the day to day running of a suckler herd and finishing unit, alongside supporting the arable enterprise throughout the seasons.
Key responsibilities:
- Assisting with all aspects of stock work
- Supporting the main stockman, particularly during calving
- Routine treatments and vaccinations
- Weighing and sorting cattle
- Identifying and treating sick or lame animals
- Feeding and bedding cattle
- Round baling
- Hauling grain from the combine
- Rowing up straw and carting bales during harvest
- Mowing and hauling during silage season
- Slurry spreading (tanker work)
- Rolling
- Telehandler operations
The Candidate:
- Previous livestock experience (beef preferred)
- Confident and competent tractor driver
- Full UK driving licence
- Hard working, reliable and enthusiastic
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
