A privately held controls and automation contractor is seeking an experienced Lead Controls Technician to support delivery of Building Management System (BMS) projects across the United States. The organization delivers structured, process-driven controls solutions on complex construction projects with a strong focus on commissioning quality and field execution.

The Role
This is a hands-on lead field position responsible for the installation, commissioning, and handover of Delta Controls-based BMS systems on construction projects. The role combines technical delivery with on-site leadership and close coordination with project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site installation and commissioning of BMS systems using Delta Controls platforms.
  • Perform and oversee point-to-point verification, functional testing, and validation of sequences of operation.
  • Configure controllers, networks, and operator workstations in line with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee wiring, termination, addressing, and system integration with HVAC and other building systems.
  • Interpret control drawings, submittals, and IO schedules and communicate requirements to field teams.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance and task direction to controls technicians.
  • Troubleshoot controls hardware, software, and communications issues.
  • Coordinate site activities, manpower, and commissioning progress with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and submit commissioning, QA/QC, and handover documentation.
  • Support client walk-downs, system demonstrations, and basic end-user training.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with safety requirements and project standards.

Required Experience & Background

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience installing and commissioning BMS systems.
  • Experience working with Delta Controls.
  • Solid understanding of BMS protocols, system integration, and commissioning processes.
  • Prior experience leading field execution on construction projects.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot complex controls issues.
  • Comfortable working in structured, process-driven environments.
  • Clear communicator with technicians, project managers, and clients.
