The HR Advisor role profile is intentionally broad. Police Scotland is expanding its Leadership, Talent, and Performance team and the successful candidate may be tasked to assist with a wider portfolio.

The Leadership and Team Development HR Advisor is a hands-on position dedicated to improving the collective capability of the organisation through the design and delivery of effective leadership and team development solutions. The primary activities of this role are focused on three pillars:

  1. Leadership development management & delivery: Provide end-to-end support and direct delivery for key organisational development initiatives. Actively plan and coordinate learning sessions, and leadership and management programmes, as well as the facilitation of initiatives for leaders and staff across the organisation.
  2. Data driven insight: Leverage, interpret, and analyse data from appropriate sources including delegate feedback, session attendance metrics, and performance indicators to inform continuous programme improvement.
  3. Team development initiatives: Consult on and assist with the formal diagnosis of team effectiveness challenges. Including supporting the deployment of practical, targeted interventions.

Required Expertise (Skills, Knowledge, and Experience):

  • Skilled facilitation and workshop design: Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and direct, proven experience in developing, organising, and facilitating impactful development programmes and workshops.
  • Team development expertise: Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in applying team development principles through formal team diagnostics and facilitation.
  • Leadership development best practice. Proven working experience with current and emerging leadership development frameworks and best practise.
