Job Description
Our client is currently recruiting for a Senior Training & Competency Officer. Based in Aberdeen, the role is on a permanent (staff) basis and offers hybrid working.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Action and progress the implementation of the Company Competence Management framework, ensuring effective practices in accordance with the assessment and verification strategies.
- Mentor and provide guidance to the training team to ensure understanding and knowledge progression of the Company competence assurance process.
- Act as advisory to Assessors and Internal Verifiers on all aspects of competence assurance in accordance with company competence standards, strategies and procedure.
- Ensure compliance and provide reporting of Training and Competence status for fleet personnel.
- Assist the Training & Competence Manager in ensuring outsourced Training Administration Service compliance is met, and approved policies and procedures are adhered to. Monitor and report KPIs on a regular basis.
- Assist to oversee, guide and mentor the Training and Competence team with day-today duties and responsibilities, ensuring that processes and procedures are understood and applied.
- Maintain current relevant Training related knowledge of Industry codes of practice and regional requirements to support the fleet s global compliance, including marine licencing (STCW), flag state (ISM Code) and Client specific.
- Initiate and deliver various digitalisation & automation initiatives within Training & Competence function as well as assist to oversee and manage the progression of existing software and systems.
- Administer proposal of annual Training Matrix review and revision.
- Act as advisory on all aspects of Training, including undertaking training needs analysis, liaising with Heads of Department and Rig Managers to ensure training related queries are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure effective reporting is achieved and provided to the Chief HR Officer, Training & Competence Manager and Rig Manager s at agreed intervals.
- Monitor and report on training related deviations and trends, providing feedback to the Training & Competence Manager.
- Where requested by the Training & Competence Manager, represent at Industry events/forums/work groups, reporting back on relevant Training & Competence related news and industry good practice.
- Any other duties as required by the Training and Competence Manager
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Education
- Relevant experience at a similar level within the drilling and/or marine industry.
- Excellent knowledge of industry training and competence.
- Experience/knowledge of industry competence management system accreditation (OPITO/IADC).
- Previous experience initiating and implementing digitalisation initiatives.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Efficient and have ability to work within a fast-paced environment, producing high accuracy.
- Demonstrates self-motivation and commitment.
- Excellent work planning and time management skills
- Relevant University Degree
- Electronic Competence Management software applications.
- Previous experience using Internal Verifier and Microsoft Projects
