Wind Turbine Service Technician – Kilbraur, Scottish Highlands
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Kilbraur Windfarm, Strath Brora, Scottish Highlands
Hours: Core hours are 37 per week (Monday – Thursday 8am – 4:30pm and Friday 8am – 1pm) with a requirement to work overtime when needed.
Our Service Technicians must be on call for any breakdowns and faults at the weekend, working on call every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depending on the size of the team). Overtime is paid at time and a half, and an additional payment is received for the weekend on call.
Successful candidates must live within a radius of up to one hour from the windfarm.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of Nordex wind turbines at Kilbraur Windfarm, carrying out general and specialised work including repairs, troubleshooting and fault finding activities to maintain high availability.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- On site performance analysis and action plan implementation
- Working closely with Technicians and Back Office staff to perform on the job demonstrations
- Supporting on site single turbine improvements on problem turbines
- Providing on site software & hardware updates
- Supporting online and on phone technical support
- Creating reports on turbines or turbine components
- Parameter disabling and alarm change handling when necessary
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have experience in the Mechanical / Electrical industry and be able to demonstrate knowledge of reading electrical, hydraulic and mechanical diagrams.
You should be Mechanical or Electrical trained through a time-served or technical college qualification at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
You will be able to identify and define problems, extract crucial information from technical data, and develop workable solutions.
Other essential skills and behaviours required for this role include:
- Adaptability to an environment of continuous change and varied challenges
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn, lead and continuously improve
- Computer literacy and confidence in using MS Office, in house databases and workload management systems
- Experience working at heights up to 140m; fit and healthy to pass a working at height test
- Occasional travel, including nights away from home
- Full UK/EU Driving Licence
