LOCATION: The Gyle Shopping Centre

SHIFT PATTERN: Weekends 6am – 3pm, 16 hours per week

PAY RATE: £12.60 per hour

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

Gyle Shopping Centre is one of Edinburgh’s prestigious retail outlets, easily accessible from Edinburgh City Centre and surrounding areas. It offers free parking and discounts from certain retailers.

As part of the AMB Cleaning Team, you will receive a full uniform with an annual refresh, access to the Perkbox employee benefit scheme-including discounted e-vouchers for retailers, gyms, holidays, and car rentals-and an Employee Assistance Programme providing 24/7 support. This position is for an External Cleaner working 16 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday. We offer 11 days of annual leave, including public holidays (pro-rata for part-time).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standards at Gyle Shopping Centre, proactively addressing issues related to entrances, walkways, parking bays, and service yards.
  • Assist customers and retailers when required.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Provide additional resources within the internal cleaning department.
  • Perform cleaning duties and other related tasks within the shopping centre and designated areas as directed by supervisors and managers.
  • Be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
  • Be knowledgeable of cleaning tasks to support scheduled activities without needing specific instructions.
  • Familiarize with the building layout to service required areas efficiently.
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency, ensuring duties are completed effectively within allocated time.
  • Escalate issues to supervisors and managers as needed.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, well-maintained, and equipment is secure.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors for feedback on quality and service.
  • Undertake necessary training for professional development.
  • Achieve and demonstrate standards of personal and professional development within set timescales.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Good communication skills.
  • At least 2 years of cleaning experience.
  • Ability to work independently, taking responsibility.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and compliance policies.
  • Minimize incidents and accidents within the department.
  • Availability throughout the designated shift.
