NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is a large healthcare system employing approximately 40,000 staff and delivering acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people.
Role Overview
The Stores & Logistics Service provides a comprehensive supply chain management service to NHS organisations within the Health Board. Duties include procurement of goods and services, requisitioning from the National Distribution Centre and external suppliers, and distribution to theatres, wards and departments. The department also advises Directorate management on procurement matters, provides financial control information to budget holders, and manages equipment contracts.
This is a fixed term post of 12 months, based at Royal Alexandra Hospital. Working full time hours (36 h per week) on a day shift pattern: Monday – Tuesday 08 00, Wednesday – Friday 08 30, including public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Local Site Manager in the day to day operation of services within one of the operational warehouses or receiving centres serving GG&C. Ensure stores are run efficiently, with all goods receipted, stored and distributed in line with best practice and to meet end user requirements.
Assist in updating GG&C procurement systems with all stock and non stock transactional information, including goods received notes, returns, and issues, and perform data input and general clerical duties.
Provide regular information to the Multi Site Manager or Deputy Manager to maintain agreed stock levels, support monitoring of user enquiries, and identify strengths or weaknesses in supply chain performance. Monitor and adhere to quality standards and departmental performance criteria, including key performance indicators.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH, safe systems of work, and accident reporting procedures. Support the safe custody and security of all stock and storage areas, reporting any issues that may impact store operations.
Maintain accurate records, work with the Audit Department to support regular stock checks, assist with stock taking when required, and expedite outstanding issues to ensure timely delivery and continuity of supply.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant Stores experience
- Significant procurement experience within a large organisation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
