Job Description

The role:

This is a job share role, offering flexibility in working schedule and the chance to work as part of a friendly, supportive team. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, takes initiative, and can help us improve how we work.

You will work alongside your job share, along with the wider SWMS team, which includes Dietitians, Clinical Psychologists, Physiotherapists and a Technical Instructor.

Our service supports people living with complex obesity and related health conditions. We are currently redesigning parts of our service to reduce waiting times and improve efficiency, and we would love to have someone join us who can play an active role in this work.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Location based in Lightburn Hospital
  • Job Share position: 2 – 4 days per week (Monday to Friday), flexible – either 2 full days or up to 4 half days
  • Part-time

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage appointments, referrals and patient records accurately and efficiently
  • Support service priorities and help develop new processes to improve how we work
  • Management of waiting list for SWMS
  • Be the first point of contact for patients accessing the SWMS
  • Support patients with appointments throughout their treatment and engagement with the SWMS
  • Use initiative to solve problems and keep things running smoothly
  • Provide high-quality administrative support to the team and Service Lead

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Enthusiasm and drive to make sure that the targets are met for the benefit of patients is the key to success in this post, and this comes from a solid background in which extensive experience of all elements of the patient journey has been gained.
  • An understanding of the Health Service in Scotland in particular waiting time targets and guarantees. An understanding of the workings of the acute clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology o Good organisational and communication skills o Previous experience working with clinical systems desirable. Sound knowledge of the workings of the acute clinical setting
  • Proficiency in analysing data using Database Management (Microstrategy and Microsoft Excel)
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and logically in both written and oral forms
  • Experience of data handling and producing reports, including oral, written, numerical and graphical information. Can present complex information clearly and logically.
  • Knowledge of obligations with regard to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Caldicott Guidelines and the Freedom of Information Act.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
