Location: Based at Victoria Hospital, but covers all of Fife
Salary/Banding: Band 6

Job Overview
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse with a strong interest in caring for individuals with vascular disease to join NHS Fife’s Vascular Team. The successful candidate will become part of a small team of Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) who are integral to the multidisciplinary vascular “hub” team covering the whole of Fife. Although there are no designated vascular in patient beds in NHS Fife, the Vascular CNS (VCNS) team provide advice and support to the people of Fife as in patients during admissions under different specialities, and as out patients in a variety of community settings. There are also various roles in patient care before, during and after interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work at an advanced level of practice, encompassing the 4 pillars of advanced practice.
- Provide ongoing support and advice to vascular patients as part of the VCNS team, giving a constant presence on the Fife sites.
- Offer care for individuals with arterial and venous disease and wound care, and undertake necessary training to meet task requirements.
- Coordinate and liaise with staff in other clinical areas and team members.
- Travel around Fife (and potentially beyond) to attend patient appointments, and work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
- Maintain and develop advanced level practice through self assessment, formal assessment and training.
- Contribute to the multidisciplinary vascular “hub” team covering the whole of Fife.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse with substantial post registration experience.
- Strong interest in caring for individuals with vascular disease.
- Knowledge of wound care and experience caring for arterial or venous disease advantageous.
- Education to degree level preferred.
- Willingness to undertake self and formal assessment at an advanced level.
- Excellent verbal and electronic communication skills.
- Must be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will be a part-time post, with salary pro rata. Working hours will primarily be Monday Friday at the VHK site, with travel around Fife and occasional evening or weekend work required.
