VALUER – TEMPORARY

Location:
Stirling
Salary: £27.05 – £31.59 per hour DOE
Contract: 1 year temporary
Hours: 30 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home
Travel: Minimum travel required

Our client is looking for a Valuer – Temporary to join their Valuation Team based in Stirling.

The successful candidate will be part of a Valuation Team covering a large geographical part of the valuation area and/or dealing with a particular group of subjects in a professional manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Forward plan/schedule workload and priorities to meet statutory deadlines.
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff in valuation matters, both domestic and non-domestic.
  • Be part of a Valuation Team covering a geographical part of the valuation area and/or dealing with a particular group of subjects.
  • Undertake valuations of all classes of non-domestic properties for rating purposes.
  • Carry out detailed survey and measurement of all types of properties.
  • Analysis of rents, sales and other data for valuation purposes.
  • Under the guidance of the Divisional Assessor, deal with ratepayers, taxpayers and their agents to dispose of appeals against valuations.
  • Assist with the Electoral Registration functions of the department as required.
  • Deputise for the Senior Valuer as and when required.
  • Assist in the preparation of schemes of value.
  • Any other duties the Divisional Assessor may from time to time determine.

Essential:

  • Formal professional qualifications e.g. BSc in Estate Management.
  • Professional Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Experience in survey and valuation of property.
  • Good analytical, valuation and negotiating skills.
  • Effective report writing skills.
  • Competence in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written skills.
  • Driving licence and access to a car.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the workings of local government.
  • Understanding of the Assessor’s relationship with government bodies and other agencies.
  • Experience in an Assessors Department.
  • Knowledge in the law and practice of Valuation for Rating and Council Tax.
  • Understanding of Best Value.
  • Organisational and procedural knowledge of how CSVJB operates.
  • Customer Service experience.
