Job Description

UE05: £29,588.00 – £33,951.00 per annum, pro rata.

Digital Library / Library and University Collections / Information Services Group.

Part-time: 6 hours per week.

Fixed-term contract: 01 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.

The prospective post holder must be:

  • Current student at the University of Edinburgh; and residing in the UK.
  • Must be a UoE student for the duration of the post and eligible to work 15hrs p/w alongside studies.
  • If you already have an existing work contract with another department within the University of Edinburgh, use your university work email address when applying for this role, not your student UUN email address.

We are looking for a current University of Edinburgh student with a strong enthusiasm for making and exploring new technologies. You should have demonstrable expertise in at least two relevant service areas (digital manufacture, electronics, programming, 3D digitisation, 3D modelling, multimedia), excellent general IT skills, and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and accessibly.

You should also be organised, proactive, adaptable and confident working with a wide range of users.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will provide practical support in at least two uCreate service areas, deliver engaging training sessions, help maintain equipment and contribute to the welcoming, collaborative day to day running of the makerspace. You will support users with different levels of experience and help them use equipment safely, confidently and effectively.

This post is part time (6 hours per week); 100% on campus working.
