Job Description

The Role

  • Set up and operate Iseki TBMs (DN250-DN1800), controlling face and slurry pressure, thrust, jacking forces and steering to line and level
  • Monitor machine performance, ground conditions and navigation data (VMT, hydraulic water levelling, gyrocompass)
  • Lead and coordinate the tunnel crew safely and efficiently
  • Assist with TBM assembly, launch, retrieval and disassembly
  • Carry out inspections and routine maintenance within your competency
  • Keep accurate bore logs, shift reports and production records
  • Champion safety and environmental controls on every shift

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years’ TBM or tunnelling experience – ideally on Iseki machines (Herrenknecht also highly regarded)
  • Proven ability to operate in all ground conditions
  • Strong understanding of TBM parameters, guidance systems and defect identification
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications and survey information
  • Water, wastewater or storm-water pipeline experience (desirable)
  • Clear communication, problem-solving skills and a strong safety mindset

Tickets & Qualifications

  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Confined-space entry competency (plus gas testing, working at heights, or excavator tickets as required)
  • Cert III in Trenchless Technology and/or Cert IV in Civil Supervision, or overseas equivalents (desirable)
  • Ability to meet project medical, fitness for work and drug and alcohol requirements
