Purpose of the role
To support the Risk Function in delivering its objective of safeguarding the bank’s financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.
Accountabilities
- Develop strategic direction for risk, including implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
- Manage the risk department, overseeing risk colleagues and their performance, implementing risk priorities and objectives, and ensuring department efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with risk stakeholders, identifying relevant parties and maintaining the quality of external third party services.
- Adhere to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintain a robust control environment.

Contribute or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements; and, where appropriate, define jobs and responsibilities for the department’s future needs. Transactional Fraud Senior Manager
The role involves identifying and mitigating risks around third party fraud and collaborating closely with business teams to improve processes and ways of working for safe transactional banking. It contributes to creating straightforward, user friendly experiences while maintaining the safety of the customers channel of choice.
Essential Skills
- Experience in managing people and a fraud or financial crime strategy or analytics team.
- Experience in managing a fraud budget and taking ownership for losses.
- Ability to identify problems and propose solutions.
- Capability to think tactically and strategically and to propose initiatives through different mediums.
- Consideration of risk versus reward including customer experience, commercial aspirations and risk mitigation.
- Ability to interact with senior stakeholders and obtain positive outcomes.
Highly Valued Skills
- Experience in using data analytics tools such as SAS or Python.
- Skill in reviewing and interpreting data to determine priorities and solutions.
- Experience with fraud detection tools such as TSYS CardGuard, Falcon or ThreatMetrix.
- Fraud or financial crime qualification (e.g., ICA).
