Job Description

Job Title: Trainee / Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Salary: 25,000 – 30,000 (DOE)

Location: Motherwell – Officed based – Site visits as required

Our client, a specialist roofing and cladding contractor based near Glasgow, is seeking a Trainee / Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their team due to continued growth. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects in partnership with Tier 1 contractors, they operate across the Central Belt on a range of roofing and fa ade packages.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or junior-level Quantity Surveyor to develop their career within a supportive and experienced commercial team. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across all stages of project delivery, working alongside senior surveyors on live projects.

Trainee / Graduate Quantity Surveyor – Role Overview

  • Assisting with the management of project costs from pre-construction through to final accounts
    Supporting the preparation of cost plans, valuations and financial reports
    Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package management
    Supporting variation management and change control processes
    Working closely with site teams and senior commercial staff
    Assisting in monitoring project budgets and cost control
    Gaining exposure to multiple roofing and cladding projects across the Central Belt

Trainee / Graduate Quantity Surveyor – Requirements

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
    Some industry experience (placement or post-graduate) desirable but not essential
    Strong interest in developing a career within Quantity Surveying
    Good numerical, analytical and organisational skills
    Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
    Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
    Based within commuting distance of Glasgow
    Full UK driving licence (desirable)
